Due to many challenges facing EV adoption in Alaska, AKEVA efforts and achievements go beyond the national norm of education and advocacy. AKEVA has extensive expertise as it relates to deployment of EV charging infrastructure. Its membership is spearheading regulatory action to ensure charging infrastructure deployment is economically feasible in Alaska. Its members actively facilitate OEMs who want to enter the Alaska EV market.
AKEVA has: successfully petitioned Alaskan utility regulators for Level 3 charger rate relief; installed the first public Level 2 and Level 3 chargers in multiple Alaskan regions/utility service areas; educated thousands of Alaskans, including lawmakers, about the benefits of electric vehicles and the development of charging infrastructure; engaged automotive OEMs and charging networks on investing and partnering with Alaskan private, governmental, and non-profit organizations; and published and maintains the only openly available data on EV population in Alaska.
